Association of NJ A. ELIGIBILITY 1. Any Morgan is eligible for Year End Awards if it is: a. Registered with the AMHA or (if a weanling) eligible to be registered, and b. Owned or leased in whole or in part by a member of the MHANJ, and c. Registered with the Points Secretary (See section 3a). 2. Any junior member is eligible for Year End Awards if he/she is registered with the Points Secretary (see Sec. 3b). 3. Points will be recorded: a. Registration for points will be accepted anytime up to October 22nd at $10 per horse and can be submitted with your registration form as long as the owner or lessee is a current member of MHANJ. b. Only after the junior member is recorded with the Points Secretary on a registration form and a $5 annual fee is paid. c. When notification is made to the Points Secretary of all placings in a show on the completely filled out appropriate form and postmarked by Oct. 22nd. Points received after that time will not be counted. 4. Awards will be made: a. To the horse or rider with the highest points in each award category. In case of a tie both will receive the award. b. To the owner or lessee at the time the last points are earned as long as they are also members of the MHANJ.
B. POINT SCORING SYSTEM 1. Only 10 shows will count. Unless the Points Secretary is notified by Oct. 22, 2008 which shows are to be counted, the Secretary will select the 10 shows. 2. Categories and point counts a. USEF A-rated Morgan or open shows will count as A, USEF B-rated Morgan or open shows will count as B, USEF C-rated Morgan or open shows and USDF or ADS shows as C, and non-rated shows as D. b. POINTS SHALL BE AWARDED AS FOLLOWS: Regular Classes:

3. Point Scoring Rules: a. Full points will be credited where all horses have an equal scoring opportunity. b. Grand Champion and Reserve classes will earn championship and reserve points. c. Half points: i. Classes that exclude any horse or rider, where not offset by comparatively exclusive classes, e.g. maiden, novice, limit, childrens, ladies (unless, for example, ladies will count full if there is a gentlemens class; under 15H will count full if there is an over class.) ii. Amateur, classic pleasure, junior horse and junior exhibitor will count full points, but only towards the Amateur, Classic Pleasure, Junior Horse, and Jr. Exhibitor awards. d. No points: i. Where less than two entries are judged. ii. Where the class cannot be entered on the show's regular closing date, i.e. futurities. iii. Where membership is required in any organization (except equitation medal classes and competitive trail) other than the MHANJ. iv. Where residence is required in an area other than NJ. v. Classes where the horse does not work at all the usual gaits, e.g., walk‑trot (with the exception of Junior Exhibitor Walk/Trot Pleasure). e. Versatility Award—All Morgan classes at recognized shows in which the horse is judged but which do not clearly fit into any other category. a. Promotion Award—Morgan classes at non‑approved shows and classes open to breeds other than just Morgans at both approved and non‑approved shows: i. No points will be counted unless the exhibitor: · Submits results within 3 weeks, and · Submits a prize list with entry attested by a show official ii. 4-H and pony club shows will not count. iii. Points will be awarded as for “C” Regular classes as described in the points table above i. 1 b. Competitive Trail h. Pleasure Trail/Pathways (non-competitive trail based on hour) -Honor system of MHANJ members keeping track of hours spent in the saddle or driving any MHANJ Morgan(s) nominated for Year-End Awards, outside of the show ring/training ring. The horse/rider combination must be registered at the beginning of the year. Patches with MHANJ logo to be given out at 100h, 200h, 300h, and up at 100-hr increments. At the end of the Year-End Awards season, the 6 highest rider/drivers/horse combination will be awarded Champion through 6th place for the Pleasure Trail Year Award. i. Carriage Award: Classes at approved shows and classes at non‑approved shows will be scored according to the ratings given by the Carriage Show Evaluation Committee. j. Combined Driving Award k. Dressage Award: Classes at approved shows and classes at non‑approved shows will be scored the same as promotion. l. Hunter Award: Classes at approved shows and classes at non‑approved shows will be scored the same as promotion. m. Hunter Pace Award n. Equitation points will count only if ridden on a registered Morgan. i. Points will count for the following: · All points won in age group, open and championship classes. · Best ribbon won in the division at a show (maiden, novice, limit) · For Saddle Seat, one highest placing per year in NHS classes, AMHA, USEF, and UPHA Medal classes · For Hunt Seat, one highest placing per year in AMHA, USEF, USET, and SPCA (MacClay) Medal classes · For Western Seat or Stock Seat/Reining riders, one highest placing per year in AMHA and USEF Medal Stock and Western classes
